· What is Concrete Mixer Truck?

 

Concrete mixer truck is a special truck used to transport concrete for construction, also called cement mixer, cement truck, mixer, etc; Because of its shape, it is also often called a snail car or an olive car. These trucks are equipped with cylindrical mixing cylinders to carry mixed concrete.

During transportation, the mixing drum will always be kept rotating to ensure that the concrete carried will not solidify. After the concrete is transported, the inside of the mixing drum is usually flushed with water to prevent the residual concrete from hardening and occupying space, so that the volume of the mixing drum becomes less and less.

Its dedicated chassis model for fabricating concrete mixer trucks are very few, only with 6x4 10 wheeler chassis or 8x4 12 wheeler chassis. But for 4x2 6 wheel chassis, for concrete mixers of 3-8cbm, no special chassis.

Structural characteristics of concrete mixer truck

1. Mixing Drum

The mixing drum is the key part of the entire concrete mixing truck, as a container for storing concrete, it plays a decisive role in preventing its solidification and segregation. It is composed of mixing barrel, supporting wheel, etc. The cylinder is composed of front cone section, rear cone section, cylinder section, head, blade, feed cone, raceway, etc. The front end is connected with the reducer, and the rear end is supported on the subframe through the supporting wheel. The supporting roller plays the role of supporting the roller body and is composed of a support, a bearing seat, a shaft, a bearing, etc.

The mixing cylinder body is made of high-strength steel plate and blades are made of high-strength fine grain alloy steel (its wear resistance is 1.6 times that of Q345), with higher wear resistance. The head is formed by spinning once, and has enough rigidity and strength after welding with the reinforcing plate. The feeding cone directly affects the feeding speed of the whole vehicle. If the speed is too fast, segregation will occur, while if the feeding speed is too slow, the working efficiency will be affected. Therefore, the feeding cone is designed as a funnel with large diameter, and the feeding speed is kept at 3.2m3/min to ensure smooth feeding and prevent concrete overflow.

The raceway is forged integrally. After the whole barrel is welded, the outer ring shall be processed to ensure the coaxiality requirements. The optimized mixing drum has reliable structural rigidity, good wear resistance, smooth feeding and discharging, and extremely low residue. It can not only mix concrete, but also agitate and transport ready mixed concrete, without segregation, ensuring the homogeneity of concrete.

 

2. Subframe

The subframe of the mixer truck is the main load-bearing part, and the load during operation is almost supported by it. In addition, the impact load caused by road bumps, acceleration and deceleration during driving puts forward high requirements for the structure of the subframe.

The whole sub frame is composed of main beam, front support frame and back support frame. The main beam adopts an integral box type structural beam, which fundamentally enhances its torsional, flexural and tensile properties, and ensures the rigidity requirements. An auxiliary beam is added between the two main beams to adjust the rigidity of each section of the main beam, so that the load is more evenly distributed over the entire length of the sub frame.

It is inevitable to adopt emergency braking under special circumstances during driving. The inertia force caused by this is very large. In addition, the mixing cylinder itself has a certain inclination angle, so the load borne by the front of the subframe is relatively large. This part of load is mainly added to the six bolts connecting the reducer and the front support. In order to prevent the bolt from being cut off and causing an accident, a thrust stop is added to the front support platform, The bolt shall not be affected by the shear force to ensure the safety of the vehicle during operation.

In order to meet the filling rate of the concrete mixer truck, the mixing drum should also meet certain inclination requirements. The mixing cylinder, reducer and front support frame have been firmly connected as a whole after assembly. Due to manufacturing errors, the rear support frame may not meet the requirements of inclination after assembly, and cannot effectively support the mixing cylinder. At this time, the whole structure is equivalent to a cantilever beam. This will produce a large torque for the reducer. To prevent the damage to the reducer, the installation position of the supporting roller on the backstage support frame can be adjusted. Moreover, after the assembly and commissioning is completed, fixed blocks shall be added to prevent the deflection of the roller caused by the loose bolts.

3. Feeding and discharging device

The feeding and discharging device is composed of feed hopper, discharge hopper, main discharge chute, auxiliary discharge chute, support, locking frame, etc. It is an important part of the mixer truck and directly affects the speed and quality of feeding and discharging. The feed hopper and the discharge hopper are connected with the rear support frame of the sub frame through a bracket. The discharge hopper and main discharge chute are equipped with lining plates. The lining plates are made of high-strength fine grain alloy steel, and their wear resistance is 1.6 times that of Q345A (original 16Mn), greatly improving the wear resistance

The main discharge chute can discharge the concrete in the required direction, and the auxiliary discharge chute can extend the length of the main discharge chute. When the auxiliary discharge chute needs to be extended for discharging, it is convenient to simply install the auxiliary discharge chute on the main discharge chute. The locking frame device locks the main discharge chute when the discharge chute is not working. How to use: When the discharge chute is not working, push it inward to automatically lock it. Lift the lock handle to pull out the discharge chute.

The control rod of the discharge chute acts as a rotary support for the discharge chute and adjusts the up and down displacement of the discharge chute notch. The shoulder type telescopic sleeve is used to adjust the tilt angle of the main chute during discharging. The positioning is accurate, the connection is reliable, and the operation is convenient and labor-saving. The locking lever will turn to lock the discharge chute in any position. How to use: Lift the handle to unlock it.
4. Control system

The operating system consists of a controller, a linkage shaft, a flexible shaft and a linkage mechanism, which mainly controls the speed and direction of rotation of the mixing drum. A set of controllers are arranged at both sides of the rear of the mixer truck. The left and right controllers can realize linkage. There is only one control lever on the controller. The outlet end is connected to the variable displacement pump through the linkage mechanism. The flow of the oil pump is adjusted by changing the angle of the control handle on the pump to control the direction and speed of the cylinder rotation, which can be controlled by moving from left to right; At the same time, the connecting end is connected to the accelerator of the engine through a flexible shaft. When the speed needs to be increased, the control lever can be operated up and down to control the speed of the cylinder.
